Karnataka B.Arch Admissions 2026: NATA 50:50 Formula, Cutoffs & Top Colleges

Admission to 5-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programs across Karnataka does NOT require writing the KCET Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics entrance exam. Instead, KEA ranks candidates exclusively based on a composite score derived from the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and 12th Board marks.

Official KEA Architecture Merit Formula

Architecture Merit Score (Out of 200) = (NATA Score / 2) + (12th Board % / 1)

NATA is scored out of 200 and converted to 100 marks (50% weightage). Qualifying 12th Standard marks (PCM or Diploma) are converted to a percentage out of 100 (50% weightage). The sum of both yields your exact KEA Architecture Composite Score out of 200.

Example Calculation
NATA: 140 / 200 → 70 pts
12th PUC: 92% → 92 pts
Score: 162.0 / 200
Yields Rank ~280–320 statewide

Statutory Council of Architecture (CoA) & KEA Eligibility

1. Qualifying Exam (10+2)

Passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC, ST, and Category-1/2A/2B/3A/3B candidates of Karnataka). Alternatively, passed 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics.

2. NATA Qualifying Cutoff

Candidate must clear the official Council of Architecture minimum qualifying cutoff in NATA (typically 70 out of 200 marks). KEA also permits valid scores from JEE Main Paper 2A (B.Arch) converted to the equivalent scale.

3. Karnataka Domicile (Clauses)

To claim Government Quota seats (annual tuition ~₹38k–₹1.07L) and SNQ fee concessions, candidates must satisfy Karnataka Candidature Clauses A through O (e.g. 7 years of Karnataka schooling). Non-Karnataka candidates can access Open Private Quota or COMEDK seats.
