① E-Stamp Paper Denomination (Karnataka Stamp Act)

Under Article 4 of the Karnataka Stamp Act, 1957, the statutory minimum stamp duty for a general affidavit is ₹20. However, ₹50 and ₹100 e-stamps are also widely used and accepted by colleges and universities. You can purchase e-stamps digitally through the Karnataka Government's Kaveri Online Services portal (kaverionline.karnataka.gov.in) or at any authorized Sub-Registrar, Bangalore One, or Post Office counter. ② Who Must Countersign Study Certificates?

Study certificates (Annexure-I: 7 years for Domicile; Annexure-II: 10 full years for Rural; Annexure-III: 10 full years for Kannada Medium) issued by school Headmasters/Principals MUST be countersigned by the Block Education Officer (BEO) or Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) having territorial jurisdiction over the school. Without the BEO seal and signature, the document will be summarily rejected during verification.

③ When is a Gazette Notification Required?

A simple Notary Affidavit is accepted for minor discrepancies (such as expanded initials, minor spelling variations like 'Choudhary' vs 'Chowdhury', or missing surnames). However, if you have completely changed your legal first name, a formal Karnataka Government Gazette notification is mandatory along with an affidavit.
